Blurb: “The Discworld is in for a wild time when Death gets a life of his own... Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett

Everyone knows that auditors spell trouble. So when the cosmic auditors start examining the record of Death on the Discworld, it's not surprising that the result is Trouble with a capital "T"!

Death actually finds himself sacked.

And not only does he lose his job, he also acquires a life. So, with no other choice, he goes out and looks for a way to earn a living.

Having chosen a new name - Bill Door — he settles down to life as a farmhand (for which his previous experience with a scythe proves useful). But the rest of the Discworld doesn't adjust quite so easily to the change. In fact, you might say Dişcworld society undergoes a massive...well...mid-death crisis. For without a professional on hand to lead off the souls of the newly deceased, there is a sudden and disturb-undend roamin the postets of Ankh-Morpork.

The resultant outbreak of poltergeist activities is bad enough; the formation of a Dead Rights group just adds to the confusion. Not even Windle Poons, a 130-year-old undead wizard at  the Unseen University, can figure out how to dispose of the" so that he can just relax and become totally dead.

Meanwhile, Bill Door has dis covered that life is all it's cracked up to be, but his own existence is likely to be brief. For those bothersome cosmic auditors have found someone to take over his old job, and they're betting that the new Reaper Man will prove more than a "cut" above the old one.
