As a historian, I have watched a quiet man making history and the thought of not recording it, seems unforgivable. Historians must not only remember the past, they should be diligent to record history being made in their time.
The subject of this book has made history in his time. No man will ever be truly dead so long as the living have some knowledge or remembrance of him. My reasoning won out and I wrote this little book in order to postpone that final, inevitable oblivion which awaits most of uS. Everett, Ruble, Jr., will live so long as his contribution to the development of the Ohio River Valley is remembered. If my feeble effort accomplishes this noble end, I will be satisfied.
